Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine

Greetings from the Director

Dear all,

I want to warmly thank you all for the important and constructive work done at our Retreat in August in Falsterbo, for outlining the next phase in our Centre – “To build a Centre in Regenerative Medicine”. Thank you also especially also to the organizing committee, Anja, Anders, Einar, Filipe, Ulrica and Yulia for excellent planning and chairing! It was two intensive days filled with exciting and fruitful group work on the different themes that we together decided is the core of the work in the nearest future. We now look forward to meet with the working groups formed on each theme, including Communication and Post-docs, during the autumn and begin implementing our decisions and thoughts. I, and I think I talk for all present, really enjoyed the social activity “This you did not know about me” in the tropical evening outside, so many good laughs together.

We want to facilitate our national networking in NMMP, by supporting new collaborations with NMMP research grants. I am delighted to congratulate João, Paul and Filipe to the grants they received in the 2019 call. Please, see below more information on the collaborations and projects. In the NMMP steering committee the work is already intensively on-going with the planning and preparation for the NMMP meeting in Umeå, March 24-26, 2020. I look forward to see you there!

Don’t miss the opportunity to take part of the WCMM soon launched leadership program “Leading in academia”. You have received calendar invitation to the first 4 out of 8 seminars planned from Ulrica. The program will give you insight into the research politics at both faculty, University and a national level, and also a chance to discuss challenges as a researcher with leaders of the faculty and university.

September 30 at “Leading in academia”- Erik Renström, our faculty Dean and Chair of the WCMM Steering committee will come and discuss research politics, and also the faculty’s view on our future leaders. Most welcome!

October 1, we are happy to welcome our 9th Wallenberg Fellow in Molecular Medicine, Agnete Kirkeby, from Denmark!

Warmest regards,
Gunilla

Leica THUNDER workshop i Lund September 23-26 at Dept. Biology

Date: September 23rd
Time: 9am - 11am
Location: Biology Building D, Floor 2, Room D205 ”Receptorn”, Department of Biology Sölvegatan 35, Lund University

Flyer on this event

See the future of widefield imaging – Join the Leica THUNDER Imager workshop The Microscopy Facility at the Department of Biology in conjunction with Micromedic and Leica Microsystems cordially invite you to the Leica THUNDER Imager workshop. Join and learn about the latest innovations in widefield microscopy – the Leica THUNDER Imagers that fuses the speed and sensitivity of widefield imaging with the image quality of confocal imaging. There will be a technology presentation and three days of demonstration slots to give you the possibility to test it yourselves with your own samples. Find out what THUNDER Imaging can do for your research!

There will be two THUNDER system available:
THUNDER Imager 3D Cell Culture: The solution for 3D cell culture assays using stem cells, spheroids or organoids. We will also use it to demonstrate what THUNDER bring to 3D tissue imaging.
THUNDER Imager Model Organism: The solution that allows fast and easy 3D exploration of whole organisms for developmental or molecular biology research.
