Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine
Lund University

Greetings from the Director

Dear all,

At the SAB meeting the working group could proudly present the achievements since last year in the Centre, a period still dominated by the recruitment process. However, we have taken many important steps into the new phase of the Centre, i.e. focused on creating a Scientific Centre. I warmly thank you all for contributing with presentations of newly established research labs, participation in lunch meeting and the networking and socializing at the fun and lovely dinner at Biskopshuset! Our very professional, excellent and also highly supporting SAB was greatly impressed of the development of our Centre over the last year, but also payed careful attention to the wishes and needs communicated from you proposing how to increase the successful development of the Centre at all levels together. One of the factors was to increase transparency on the management of the Centre, which we began working on at our Retreat in January.

We will call you for a meeting in May to discuss Feed-back from the SAB meeting and Strategic development, where we get an opportunity to discuss and also to make a tentative program for the PI retreat in August-September for deciding on how our Centre tasks will further be managed. We very much look forward to this!

The second NMMP meeting held at Marstrand was a great success! However, it would not have been an success without the very impressive contributions from all participants. The WCMM Lund contributed with a great team-spirit, professional presentations and by being very active at all seminars! Thank you all! I think we all also will forever remember the humble Noble Prize winner Edvard Moser giving his views and thoughts on career and life.

Last Friday April 26th we also launched the second mentor program, with full attendance and a very motivated group of mentees. Ulrica Englund Johansson is together with senior consultant and psychologist Katarina Billing, leading this 10 month program including an individual mentorship and four half-days seminar on leadership. I wish you reflective, inspiring and constructive discussions!

Best wishes,
Gunilla
