Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine
Lund University

Greetings from the Director

Dear all,
Thank you for very fruitful and constructive discussions and a very fun and nice time together at the WCMM Lund PI Retreat at YSB January 22-23! Together we are now building a Research Centre in Regenerative and Translational Medicine. I believe working close together is the only successful way! We are very proud of all activities already established at WCMM Lund and the terrific ideas of new activities, like the WCMM Lund Friday Club that is soon to be launched, currently having Gesine and Vinay as coordinators. Thank you Gesine and Vinay for the efficient planning!

At the Retreat Anja and Darcy presented the WCMM Lund Research School, and got lots of positive attention and also the opportunity to in place discuss how to develop the translational aspect even further. Congrats with great achievements with the Research School so far to all of you that have contributed and thank you all for productive ideas on its further development!

Visibility, is key for the further development of WCMM Lund and therefore we will focus on various aspects of Communication, as presented by Ulrica in Ystad. Thank you for useful ideas on the new website and on using more modern media like Twitter. We will work on this! Correct Affiliation and Acknowledgement is of most importance, see information below on how to acknowledge your WCMM-related funders.

We also decided to have a WCMM Lund PI Retreat in August 2019. We all agreed on the importance to meet only PIs and WCMM management, and we will soon find a date for the August kick-off.

The second WCMM Lund Mentor Program will start at the end of the spring and we yet work on the administration of the WCMM Lund Advanced Leadership Seminar Series that will most probably begin in early autumn 2019.

In April 17-18 we welcome our WCMM Lund SAB for important discussions on the development until today of WCMM Lund and also future planning! We will warmly appreciate your contribution to this meeting by presenting your laboratories. Last, you are all invited to a nice dinner April 17 at Biskopshuset!

The WCMM working group and I are also very pleased by the drive of you Researchers to form working groups and make the structure for events like the Friday Club. We will soon ask for candidates for a working group managing the WCMM Lund Research Group´s Day and Summer Party that will be held June 18. We hope that you all like the idea of ending this exciting day with our Summer party!

Teaching opportunities may be found through the contact lists further down and in the summary made by WCMM Lund below.

Best wishes,
Gunilla
