On September 19th, we had the great pleasure of welcoming our Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members – Prof. Dirkje Postma, Prof. John Pernow, and Prof. Peter ten Dijke – to Lund for a day filled with energy, creativity, and forward-looking ideas.

The day started with inspiring presentations from the SAB members, before moving into a lively “speed dating” session where our PIs introduced their research and explored opportunities for future collaborations. In the afternoon, everyone rolled up their sleeves for group discussions on clinical, translational, and pre-clinical research, with the SAB members rotating between groups to share their insights.

Central questions guided the conversations:

  • How can WCMM best be supported by Lund University, Region Skåne, and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation?
  • What goals should we set for the near and long term?
  • And how can translational research evolve to create real societal impact?

One key theme was reimagining translational research – not as a one-way pipeline from bench to bedside, but as a mission-driven, cross-disciplinary platform that brings together data science, patient partnership, and collaboration with industry and society.

A big thank you to our SAB members, PIs, and WCMM management team for making the day such a success, full of inspiration and exciting ideas for the future!
