The WCMM & DDLS Leadership Seminar Series, an initiative designed to equip WCMM & DDLS Lund PIs with leadership skills essential for shaping the future of medical science, has now held its second session of 2026.

On 11 February, we were delighted to welcome KArin Jirström, Vice Dean responsible for PhD studies and campus development, as our invited speaker. Karin gave an in-depth overview of the FUN (Research Education Board), sharing valuable insights into how decisions are made around research education, PhD programs and strategic campus development. She also highlighted the crucial role of leadership in navigating complex academic structures and supporting the next generation of researchers.

The series has previously explored leadership from multiple angles, managing research groups, navigating departmental and faculty structures and understanding decision-making at higher institutional levels. Last year, it expanded to include national and international perspectives, offering a broader view of the systems that drive research.

Looking ahead, the next session on 18 March will focus on career pathways and recruitment within academia and healthcare, featuring Jonas Larsson, Pro Dean for Research, Infrastructure, and Recruitment, and David Gisselsson-Nord, Vice Dean responsible for International Affairs and Security.

The WCMM & DDLS Leadership Seminar Series continues to provide Lund PIs with the tools, insights, and inspiration needed to lead in today’s evolving research landscape.

Stay tunes for next session in the series!
